From Ski bunny to muma fitness trainer..

I first met Tawna on the ski slopes in Canada. Her and her fellow kiwi gal pal Amity were two babes on the snowfield who not only knew their stuff about skiing/snowboarding and coaching kids, but were super fun and always had a knack and passion for sport..

Fast forward 5 years and she is now based in Wanaka, (NZ) doing something she now absolutely loves..

What is it that you do now?

I have created a business called ‘Wanaka Body’ which is an Outdoor Bootcamp (although currently indoors over winter!) and mobile personal training company.

I run a 6.30am, 9.30am and 6pm session on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Also run two mums and bubs on Tuesday and Thursday’s out of town.

WHY do you do what you do??

I started my fitness journey properly after having my daughter who is now almost 4 years old. I wanted to feel the absolute best I could and give myself energy to run around and keep up with Indie. I also liked the idea and challenge of pushing my body and take it to places it hadn’t been before and to realise that our body truly is capable of anything we set our mind too. I became I guess you could say addicted to the endorphins that I was releasing and addicted to feeling good ( who wouldn’t).

I ended up losing 14kg within the first year of Indie being born, and this inspired me to help and inspire other woman, not just mothers to be the best version of themselves that they can be. I began studying personal training online whenever I found the time. Usually when Indie was sleeping and became a qualified personal trainer. I worked at a local gym for a year and learnt a lot! But knew it was time to do what I truly wanted to do so I set up my own business running bootcamps and mums and bubs specific sessions so new mothers could come along with their kids and smash out a workout. There isn’t anywhere in town where you can take your kids and workout, and this was a major factor for me or not whether I could work out when Indie was young so I wanted to offer this service. At the end of the day I want everyone I train not just mothers to be happy, healthy, confident in their own skin and I know that exercise is one of, if not the best way to achieve these things. I know it worked for me and I want to show people how it is possible, accessible and affordable for anyone.

I have met so many people through starting my business from all walks of like and am truly grateful for this, I love that we can all come together and share this journey. I cannot think of anything more rewarding than seeing smiles, laughter and a sense of achievement on these people’s faces. I honestly don’t feel like I have to work a day in my life, I get up excited every day and am very lucky to have found this for myself. It has taken me 27 years but I am exactly where I need to be J

I would love to have a look at what we get up to
